From Russia with Club 26

I am still in my lounge phase, so it should be no suprise that that's what you are getting with From Russia with Club Volume 26. I just can't get over that incredibly smooth and soulful sound, and I'd say the songs in this set capture that feeling perfectly.

My favorite songs in this set are Saschienne's haunting "Unknown:, Disclosure's "What's in Your Head", and my edit of Joy Kitkonti's "Do U Want Me". Perhaps even better than all of those is Wanklemut's remix of "One Day/Reckoning Song", which I admittedly stole from my Bro-in-Law, Zerbie. He has long been my house music guide, so hopefully he'll forgive me.

I really love the flow of this set and hope you do too.

From Russia with Club 25

It's been a while since I've posted a new set and to reward your patience, I decided to give you a treat.
Many of my sets throughout the year have been Electro driven and really big sounding. From Russia with Club Volume 25 is a stark deviation from that.

I've been listening to a lot of lounge house music and have really focused on that sound for a smooth, sexy set you can chill out to. I've replaced the Axwells and Dirty Souths with Saschienne and Moonbeam. You get less big names but gain more great DJ's to discover. My two favorite songs (of the moment) in this set are Sebo and Madmotormiquel's "Boys, Boys" and DJ Doctor's "If You're Ready", featuring Nathalia's infectious vocals.

Turn the volume up and lose yourself in some beautiful, relaxing lounge house.

I dedicate this From Russia with Club 25 to my friends Dan and Diana, in honor of their wedding this weekend. Congratulations and Let's Party!

From Russia with Club 24

Been a while since I've posted, but rest assured this new set is worth the wait. Before I get to the description and set list, I just want to say a few words about a few of the great DJ's and shows I've been to so far this summer. On May 20th and 21st I attended the first Electric Daisy Carnival NYC (which was actually in New Jersey). Despite some logistical hiccups, the show was actually really well done. Highlights included strong sets from Jochen Miller, Sebastien Ingrosso, and Calvin Harris on Saturday and Sunnery James, Locodice, and Dubfire on Sunday. However, my favorite act by far was Dirty South, who has been incredible every time I have seen him live. If ever you have the chance to catch the Serbian-Australian hitmaker at a festival, do not miss out.

Two weeks later I found myself in Las Vegas the same weekend as EDC LV. The festival was not my purpose for being in Sin City, and I did not get to the show at the Speedway; still, that did not preclude me from seeing Bingo Players & Afrojack at Surrender and Sebastien Ingrosso at XS. Once again, my favorite show was on the last full day. I saw AN21, Max Vangeli, and Steve Angello at Encore Beach Club. The music was rock solid, but what really made the scene was dancing in the pool and splashing around, while the killer beats were dropping. Once again, do your best to have that kind of experience once or twice in your life.

On to the music. A true progressive set, From Russia with Club 24 starts with a slow build before hitting the ragers, and, in a departure from previous sets, ending on some glitch/dubstep. I've been obsessed with every song in this set at one time or another, but my favorite tracks at the moment are undoubtedly Mark Knight's "Alright", Thomas Gold's remix of "The Wave", and most of all, Dirty South's rendition of Michael Brun's "Rise". The setlist is missing some of the names I rely on more frequently, but don't let that throw you off. Every song in the list brings the heat.

From Russia with Club 23

From Russia with Club 23 is all about BIG Electro. It's epic banger stacked on epic banger, huge bass on top of huge bass. Admittedly, there's not a lot of progression in this one as we dive right into big sound, starting with my favorite track off Kaskade's "Fire and Ice" album. Other tracks to keep an eye on include "Years", "Aces High Prutata", and my own Swedish House/Knife Party/Chemical Brothers mashup, entitled "Do It AgAntidote".

This set does not ease you in, so if you're looking for a gentle progression, 23 is not the way to go. This is pure rage-hard, peak-hour goodness. Enjoy.

From Russia with Club 22

This week's set is a return to the style I know and love best. Iggy N Scratchy Presents: From Russia with Club 22 is a true Progressive House set in every sense of the term.

Kicking off with more lowkey tracks by Booka Shade and Marcus Schossow & Thomas Segstad, the mix builds through to new takes on early 2000's tracks by Gabriel & Dresden and Supermode, Axwell and Angello's old vehicle. Djabo Lorel and Michael Woods, respectively give a new sound to Mumford & Sons and Temper Trap's indie hits, "Little Lion Man" and "Science of Fear". Yet with all these hits, my favorite track of the moment has to be Benny Benassi's collaboration with Gary Go on the penultimate track, "Control". Give it a listen and enjoy.

From Russia with Club 21

For my first post of the New Year, I thought I'd give you a bit of something old and a bit of something new. You'll find everything from classic tracks, such as "Love Story", to bangers from the last few years, including "C'mon" and "Teenage Crime", to the latest big releases, highlighted by several songs of Gabriel & Dresden's recent bootleg pack.

If 2012 goes as the Mayans predicted, I figured you'd want to make the most of your remaining music listening time. In anticipation of the impending apocalypse (which is totally real, just like astrology and unicorns), I mixed in some darker, more ominous tracks, such as "Alcoholic" and my mashup of Josh Gabriel's "Say Yin" bootleg with Tim Berg's "Before this Night is Through". If the world ends this year, From Russia with Club 21 should help you start it off right.
